— PEI Watershed Management Fund

The Watershed Management Fund provides financial support to community-based watershed groups on Prince Edward Island.

— PEI Department of Transportation

The Prince Edward Island Department of Transportation provided important support for the construction of the Gill Road Extension Bridge and completed sediment mitigation work at Indian Bridge to improve Atlantic salmon habitat in 2023. Transportation also provided support for the Morell River Deflector Structures Project in 2021 and 2022. We thank them for their continued support and partnership. 

— PEI Wildlife Conservation Fund

The Prince Edward Island Wildlife Conservation Fund provides financial support to groups working on projects that benefit wildlife and wildlife conservation in Prince Edward Island.

— Abegweit Conservation Society

The Abegweit Conservation Society is a collective of passionate individuals dedicated to the beauty and health of Prince Edward Island.  The Society values and nurtures the natural interconnections between land, sea, and air. MRMC has partnered with the ACS to complete habitat restoration and monitoring projects on the Morell and Midgell Rivers. We value our positive partnership with the ACS crew and thank them for their continued support!

— PEI Watershed Alliance

The Prince Edward Island Watershed Alliance (PEIWA) is non-profit cooperative association of watershed management groups on Prince Edward Island.

—Dalhousie University

MRMC is assisting Dalhousie University with a salmonid tracking project which focuses on the use of electronic tagging and tracking technology for informing species recovery plans for brook floater and Atlantic salmon in the Gulf Region.

— Mi'Kmaq Confederacy of PEI

The Mi’Kmaq Confederacy of PEI Integrated Resource Management Division partnered with MRMC to complete Atlantic salmon tagging on the Morell River from 2021 to 2023 as part of an Environmental Studies Research Fund Project with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

— Island Nature Trust

The Island’s first and oldest private land trust, working since 1979 to protect land in PEI and manage it responsibly. INT believes there is a need to retain some land as undeveloped, for its intrinsic and wildlife values, but also to provide the natural services Islanders depend on for clean water, clean air, and a livable environment. MRMC has partnered with the INT through the Community Nominated Priority Places Fund which supports our shoreline cleanup efforts and community outreach activities. 

— The Foundation for the Conservation of Atlantic Salmon

Promoting the conservation of wild Atlantic salmon and its habitat in Atlantic Canada and Quebec. 

— Skills PEI Post Secondary Program

This summer employment program is designed to create jobs for post-secondary students by providing a financial incentive to Prince Edward Island employers. In turn, students will gain valuable work experience, preferably related to a student’s field of study.

— Jobs for Youth PEI

The Jobs for Youth Program, delivered by the Employment Development Agency, offers wage support for employers to create employment opportunities for PEI students.

— Canada Summer Jobs

Canada Summer Jobs is an initiative of the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy, which aims to provide flexible and holistic services to help all young Canadians develop the skills and gain paid work experience to successfully transition into the labour market.

— Clean Foundation

A program delivery non-profit, Clean helps the communities in which we work make real progress toward a cleaner future by taking on climate change challenges. We’re here to make the biggest impact for a cleaner world. The Clean Foundation supported MRMC’s watershed conservation efforts in 2024 by funding a Clean Leader Intern and a Science Horizons Intern.
